About Us

AEA Purchasing is formed under the Code of Iowa as a 28E entity and is an initiative of Iowa’s Area Education Agencies.  The goal of AEA Purchasing is to combine the purchasing power of Iowa school districts to offer aggressive pricing on materials, goods and services. In 2014 participating Iowa schools and AEA’s saved over $7 million on their purchases through the program. Participation in AEA Purchasing is without cost to Iowa's schools in that it is funded by small fees paid by the vendors.

Membership in AEPA -- Nationally Bid, Locally Awarded

AEA Purchasing is a member of the national cooperative Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA).  Being a part of this unique group provides the following advantages to our eligible clients here in Iowa.  You can identify contracts from this group throughout our site with this logo at the bottom of each applicable vendor partner page.

About AEA Purchasing
AEA Purchasing facilitates a voluntary purchasing program to help Iowa schools and other eligible entities save time and money. AEA Purchasing is an initiative of the Iowa Association of Area Education Agencies (IAAEA). Our goal is to combine the purchasing power of Iowa schools to offer aggressive pricing on materials, goods and services through a competitive bid process. AEA Purchasing is also a member of the Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA), a multi-state non-profit organization of educational service agencies that works to leverage purchasing power to enable all schools and agencies, regardless of size, to purchase at equal buying levels.

All Iowa AEAs are required to adhere to state and federal laws that prohibit discrimination in programs, activities and employment practices. For specific information, contact your AEA.
